Timed Writing: "The Things They Carried
In great literature, no scene of violence exist for it's own sake. Choose a work of literary merit that confronts the reader or audience wit ha scene or scenes of violence. In a well-organized essay, explain how the scene or scenes contribute to the meaning of the complete work. Avoid plot summary. [you must write about The Things They Carried.]
Reflection
This was one of my highest scores for a timed writing. I was able to establish a thesis and provides solid textual evidence to clearly support my thesis. If I were to rewrite it, I would first fix the grammatical errors that I made, then I would provide more evidence to support my thesis statement. Having that extra example drives home the content of my essay and allows the reader to be more easily convinced with my argument. Although the example that I provided was sufficient enough to provide support, one more example would have solidified my argument and could bump me up from a 6 to an easy 7 or 8.
